Nursery Rhyme: Baa, Baa Black Sheep
Song: The Wheels on the Bus
Suggested Stories: Firefighters A to Z by Chris Demarest
Sensory Material:  Sand Paper and Wooden Blocks or Water and Ice Cubes

MON TUE WED THU FRI
Practice your phone number. Have your child help make a first aid kit. Talk about situations in which your child may call 911. Practice on a toy phone. Walk around the neighborhood looking for the color black. Make bubbles and blow them outside.
Call your local fire department and schedule a visit. Say the nursery rhyme. Have your child make sheep out of black construction paper. Sing "Wheels on the Bus" together. Help your child understand what each color means on a stoplight. Help your child make a stoplight from construction paper.
Talk to your child about strangers. Make a nature bracelet. Practice saying the name of your city and street. Go to the library and check out books about police officers and firefighters.  Draw a self portrait.
Go for a walk and practice looking both ways before crossing the street. Have your child draw a picture of someone they consider a hero. Give your child a box of bandages to role play caring for dolls and stuffed animals. Have fun with sandpaper/blocks or ice cubes/water in the sensory table. Check your child's bike helmet and car seat for a proper fit and then go for a ride together.
