Suggested Stories: Pumpkins, Pumpkins by Jeanne Titherinton
Apples and Pumpkins

Sensory Material:  Beans and peas

MON TUE WED THU FRI
Color a picture using 3 different colors. Sing the "Itsy Bitsy Spider" song. Trace various sizes of squares for your child to cut. Glue squares on paper or a paper place to create a square collage. Play catch with a small bean bag animal.
Snip orange paper with scissors. Go the the public library and help your child get a library card and check out two books. Read the "Little Miss Muffet" nursery rhyme and let your child act out the part of Miss Muffet. Pour a bag of dried peas or beans into the sensory pan. Make a nature bracelet.
Walk around your neighborhood looking for the color orange. Read a book. Talk about what happened in the beginning and at the end. Have your child draw a self-portrait. Date and keep the picture. Go on a scavenger hunt in your house and look for squares. Paint or color a paper plate orange. Add a stem to create a pumpkin.
Talk about what you will do and see tomorrow when you visit the pumpkin patch. Visit a pumpkin patch. Purchase a pumpkin. Have your child draw a picture of you at the pumpkin patch. Carve a pumpkin. Dry seeds on a newspaper. Count pumpkin seeds in groups of 10. Bake them for a snack.
