Home Preschool Curriculum
Developed by: Community Collaboration for Four Year Olds
School District of La Crosse

Welcome to the Home Preschool Curriculum. You and your child will enjoy the activities and learning experiences. The ideas are simple and easy to follow. At the top of each monthly calendar you will find; a shape, color, nursery rhyme, song, and book to focus on each month. We have included activities for these but we encourage you to work them into your day throughout the month. Also included are literacy, math, and science activities. There are examples of field trips and opportunities to practice social skills with other children.

These activities and learning experiences are the kind of activities typically done in preschool programs. Parents are their child's first teacher. In this role you have a powerful influence on your child's learning. Taking part in these activities, along with all the other things you do with your child, will help them grow and develop.

The core of the curriculum is the calendar of activities. The other sections offer support material for the activities. If there is additional information for a particular activity there will be a link to the page with more information.

The curriculum starts out with a list of preschool supplies. It will be fun for you and your child to find the items on the list. It will be the beginning of a yearly tradition you and your child will enjoy together.

Children need structure and predictability. Planning your preschool activities at the same time each day, such as after breakfast or before lunch, will help your child develop their organizational skills, as well as expand their knowledge of the world around them. This also allows you a scheduled uninterrupted time with your child each day.
