Regulating  Certified Child Care Professionals
In La Crosse County

Family Resources is the agency contracted by La Crosse County Human Services to deliver child care certification services in La Crosse County. As a part of this service and a matter of public record Family Resources is providing information about the status of individuals’ child care certification.

In the state of Wisconsin anyone can legally care for up to three unrelated children without a child care regulation. Child care may be regulated through a child care license which is administered by the state or a child care certification which is administered at the county level. All group child care centers are regulated by a child care license; child care provided from a provider’s home may be state licensed, county certified or may hold both regulations. Information about the regulation status of licensed providers can be found at: http://dcf.wisconsin.gov/childcare/licensed/search.HTM.

Family Resources, through a contract with La Crosse County Human Services, provides child care certification in La Crosse County only. For information about the certification status of providers not in La Crosse County please contact that county’s certifier.

This list is not intended to be an endorsement of the certified provider. Its sole purpose is to inform the community of a change in status for individuals certified to provide child care in La Crosse County.

Suspended Certification – Providers who have an “ * “ by their name have been suspended. Suspended means a temporary interruption in the regulatory approval during which the certified child care operator may not be paid by the child care subsidy program. No finding of wrongdoing has been made with respect to certifications which have been suspended. A suspended status must be resolved within 60 days by either re-instating the child care certification or revoking the certification.

Revocations
The following individuals have had their child care certification revoked as of the date listed. A revocation means that an individual is no longer certified to provide child care and is no longer eligible to receive child care subsidy or food program payments. There are various grounds for revocation. These include continued violation of a provision of certification; substantial violation of a provision of certification; direct threats to the health, safety or welfare of children in care; outstanding forfeitures; or evidence that the licensee, a household member, an employee or a person having regular contact with children in care has been convicted of a serious crime or is the subject of a finding by a governmental agency of neglect or abuse of a client, misappropriation of a client's property or child abuse or neglect.

A child care certification revocation does not prohibit the individual from caring for 3 or fewer unrelated children but does prohibit the individual from receiving public assistance for such work.
