Sparta Fun Night       May 1st | 6:00-7:30 PM

Come and enjoy a fun evening as we learn about spring and celebrate May Day! 

  • Make May Baskets and bird feeders

  • Look for signs of spring outside

  • Play games

  • Read a springtime story

It will be a fun evening for the entire family! Registration is required. 

 


 

Play Groups
 

Play Shoppe
Play Shoppe is a shared time for parents and their children to enjoy play, art activities, story time, and to spend time with friends. Registration is not required. Play Shoppe meets on Mondays from 9:30-11:00 AM Please note: No Play Shoppe April 4th or May 23rd


Parent Connection

Parent Connection welcomes moms, dads, or grandparents who are looking for a place to unwind and share the joys and challenges of parenting with other parents. Connect over coffee and conversation while toddlers and preschoolers play in our adjoining supervised playroom. No need to register. Meets every other Wednesday from 10:00-11:30 AM.

Day With Dad                               May 3rd | 9:30-11:00 AM
Need a gift for Mother’s Day? Dads or significant male figures and their children are invited to join us at Ace Hardware in Tomah (110 N. Superior Ave.) to make a gift for mom or the significant female figure in your life.
Registration is due by April 27th.

 

Night Out With Dad                  June 2nd | 6:00-7:30 PM
Night Out With Dad is a shared time for dads or significant male figures and their children to enjoy play, art activities, story time, and to spend time with friends. Registration is not required.

 


 

Workshops

Workshops are offered free of charge. Pre-registration is required. Limited childcare is provided for children (unless otherwise noted) who are independent walkers and older; younger children are welcome to join their parents. Childcare is limited to the first 8 children registered. Registration deadline for childcare is seven days prior to the workshop or the start of the first session.

CEU’s are available for all workshops. Cost for barcodes is $5.00. No charge for certificates.

 

Is Your Child Ready?                     April 21st | 6:00-7:30PM Should you send your child to school in the fall or would they benefit from waiting one more year? Come hear what “ready to learn” really means. Find out how the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards can be useful. Presenter: Gaye Tylka, CESA #4

 

Shaken Baby Syndrome Prevention Workshop                                   May 12th | 6:30-8:00 PM Shaken Baby Syndrome occurs when an infant or young child is shaken forcibly. By providing information to parents and caregivers on the dangers and alternative ways to cope with an infant’s crying, the incidence of the syndrome can be reduced.

This workshop is being held at Family Resources of Sparta (201 East Franklin Street). Registration is required. For more information or to register contact Barb at (608) 269-3151 x 3007.

 

Beyond Time Out                       May 15th | 6:00-7:30 PM What else can I do? How about something as simple as Grandma's Rule, whisper, or sports announcer? Come to this workshop to learn and practice several discipline techniques. Presenter:  Barbara Mashak, MS, NCC, Fort McCoy

 

Four Cornerstones of A Healthy Relationship June 12th | 6:00-7:30PM
Family life can be stressful. Come hear what makes a healthy relationship and how to keep it going. Learn techniques and strategies to improve even your most challenging relationships. Presenter: Carin White, Director of Brighter Tomorrows

Create Teaching Tools For Young Children   
April 8th
| 6:00-8:00 PM and April 22nd | 6:30-8:00 PM
NOW School (Brookwood) 28861 Highway 131, Ontario
Create your own toolkit! Pat Spors from NOW School District will present information on how to make and use your toolkit. Other visual strategies to use will also be shared. You will be able to choose items that you would like for your tool kit on the first night. The second night you will “make and take” those items in addition to others. Accu-cut machines and laminating will be available for you to use free of charge. This workshop is being offered in conjunction with NOW School District as a part of their Preschool Options grant. Dinner will be served the first ˝ hour on April 8th. CEU’s will be distributed on the last evening for those that attend both sessions.

Make A Difference In the Life Of A Child        
May 13th

Child Care Professionals, who suspect that a child is or will be harmed, are mandated  reporters. Deciding to report child abuse/neglect can be a difficult decision. Learn more about when to report. Presented by Monroe County Child Protective Services

Child Care Professionalism                            
June 18th
| 6:30-8:00 PM | Family Resources of Sparta
We will be going over the Child Care Professionalism Kit from Patricia Dischler. It covers everything to jump start your child care business! Come and find out more about marketing your business, writing policies and contracts, and much more!
