Family Fun Night In Tomah              
Tuesday, October 20th | 5:30-7:00 PM
Ice Skating/Tailgating Party! Wear your favorite team color and join us for some fun. We will be ice skating, making crafts and playing games. There will be snacks and fun for the entire family. This is in collaboration with the Tomah Parks and Recreation Department and The Tomah School District. Registration is not required. For more information, contact Julee at (608) 374-4190.

 


 

Play Groups
 

Play Shoppe
Mondays | 9:30-11AM
Play Shoppe is a shared time for parents and their children to enjoy play, art activities, story time, and to spend time with friends. Registration is not required.

Special days and field trip dates:

  • January 11th—Wear your favorite team’s shirt/outfit!

  • February 1st—Blue Day! Wear blue today.

  • February 15th—Tour Justa Pizza Place and make a pizza! (201 Helen Walton Drive Suite 5)

  • March 8th—Funny Hat Day!

  • March 22nd—Farm tour at Wallerman’s Family Farm! (20923 County Highway U—Norwalk)

 

Parent Connection
Second and Fourth Thursday | 9:30-11AM
Parent Connection welcomes moms, dads, grandparents or caregivers who are looking for a place to unwind and share the joys and challenges of parenting with other parents. Connect over coffee and conversation while toddlers and preschoolers play in our supervised playroom.

 


 

Workshops

Workshops are offered free of charge. Pre-registration is required at least 3 business days prior to the workshop. Limited childcare is provided for children (unless otherwise noted) who are independent walkers and older; younger children are welcome to join their parents. Childcare is limited to the first 8 children registered. Registration deadline for childcare is seven days prior to the workshop or the start of the first session.

CEU’s are available for all workshops. Cost for barcodes is $5.00. No charge for certificates. A $10 search and copy fee will be charged for all replacement certificates.
 

How To Create Healthy Competition
January 19th  | 6-7:30PM
Is your child competitive in school or playing sports? How can you teach your child that winning isn’t everything? Come listen and discuss some ways to teach your child(ren) these techniques. Presented by: Joe Protz, Park & Rec and Tammy Hewuse, Tomah Schools

A Month of Meals
March 4th |6-7:30PM
Join us at this informative workshop and hear from two moms with plenty of experience feeding picky kids. They will share ideas for stretching your budget, sneaking veggies into your dishes, and making one meal into five! Presented by: Ann Grygleski and Jennifer Mubarak, Parents

Parenting A Child With ADD
February 23rd and March 2nd | 6:30-8PM
This two-part workshop is designed to help parents effectively parent children with Attention Deficit Disorder. Working with this type of child can be frustrating and very challenging. Because ADD is often misunderstood, the workshop will explain how a diagnosis is made, what the characteristics are and what is the cause of the disorder. Parents will learn techniques and skills to support their children both at school and at home. Specific areas that will be addressed are: how to help your child take more responsibility, reduce their impulsivity and inattentiveness, and become more respectful and resourceful. Presented by: Paul Gasser of Mile Bluff Medical Center, Marriage and Family Therapist

 


 

Classes

Active Parenting (Ages 0-4)
Tuesdays | January 26th - February 16th | 6-7:30PM
Through this program parents will learn skills that will help develop cooperation, responsibility, and self-esteem in their children. They will also learn positive discipline techniques, natural and logical consequences, mutual respect, and problem-solving skills. Open to parents who want to improve their parenting skills for lifelong learning and/or parents who are interested in receiving a required parenting class completion certificate. Parents As Teachers
By providing specific, timely information about child development in the family home, or at another comfortable setting, parents learn what they can do to provide their children with a positive start in life that will help ensure their success in school. The Parents As Teachers program includes home visits, parent group meetings, development screenings and a resource network. Tomah Teen Support Group
3rd Thursday | 5-7PM
Are you a teen mother or father and are balancing being a parent, school, and work? Enjoy a light meal, parenting tips, and social time with other teen parents. there is a different theme very month. For more information contact Julee at (608) 374-4190.
 


 

Child Care Provider Training

Pre-registration is required 3 business days prior to the workshop. Register by contacting Julee at (608) 374-4190 or Barb at (608) 269-3151 x 6116. CEU's are available.

This training offers real strategies that will strengthen your relationships with the families in your care and at the same time will help parents recognize you as a professional and not the "babysitter". Due to changes in funding, this training will have a fee of $20.00. The fee must be paid at the time of registration for the training and is non-refundable. A registry certificate is included at no cost. Space is limited so register early! Presented by: Barbara Hopkins, Nancy Meyers, and Audra Wieser
